Parents who suspect that their child has a mental, physical or learning disability are advised to contact their local school district. Federal and state laws require public schools to provide free and appropriate education for children with disabilities, ages birth through 21 years. Children may qualify for special education programs administered by their school district. Special Education staff will help parents identify appropriate programs, if their child is eligible for services.
For information about special education services for children birth to 3, please call the WACSEP Infant-Family Program at 562-907-6358, view the brochure, or visit the Infant-Family Program website.
For information about special education services for children ages 3 to 21, please contact your local school district special education department.
